Officials have seized 14 tons of wheat that was being illegally transported under the state government's Anna Bhagya scheme in Chikkaballapur district. The Chintamani H-Cross area became the scene of a sudden raid conducted by the Shidlaghatta Rural Police, who intercepted a canter vehicle moving from Chintamani towards Hoskote. Upon inspecting the vehicle, authorities recovered 250 bags of smuggled wheat and took the cargo into custody.
Preliminary investigations reveal that this specific batch of wheat was originally allocated for students studying in government residential schools across the district. This high-stakes seizure highlights a deeply concerning network involved in the black marketing and illegal diversion of essential rations meant to feed young students.
This is not an isolated incident, as cases involving the illegal transportation, black marketing, and unauthorized warehousing of Anna Bhagya scheme supplies—such as rice, sugar, and other government provisions—have been reported periodically in the region. This 14-ton wheat bust is yet another addition to a long series of such fraudulent activities. The local police have officially registered a case and are currently conducting a thorough investigation to uncover the masterminds behind the racket.
