In a significant update for job seekers, the Karnataka state government has officially approved the recruitment of 15,000 teachers across the state. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced this major decision during a press conference held after a high-level meeting with district collectors, highlighting it as part of a series of key administrative approvals passed during the cabinet meeting.
Alongside the massive teacher recruitment drive, the government has greenlit several substantial welfare and infrastructure projects across various districts. Notably, an allocation of 30 crore INR has been approved for purchasing bed cots for government hostels, and a financial assistance of 10 lakh INR per house has been sanctioned to build homes for nomadic communities. Embracing technological advancement, Raichur will witness the implementation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system with an investment of 11 crore INR for the first time. The cabinet also granted permission for the construction of a hostel for the Bangalore Medical College and approved the development of state highways in Kalaburagi (Gulbarga).
Further expanding the developmental footprint, the government approved 27 crore INR for the construction of Loka Bhavana, and a 70 crore INR project dedicated to the Kapila River in Nanjanagudu, Mysuru. Administrative approval was also granted for a massive 244 crore INR project aimed at rejuvenating 116 lakes in Hiriyur taluk. Additionally, the cabinet approved the suspension of the KPSC Chairman. Addressing concerns regarding the Griha Lakshmi scheme, Chief Minister Shivakumar clarified that the government is working to ensure the financial benefits reach the beneficiaries seamlessly, reassuring citizens that no eligible person will be excluded from the program unless they choose to opt out voluntarily.
