The Karnataka Commercial Taxes Department has launched an upgraded version of its dedicated Professional Tax portal to offer a more efficient, seamless, and user-friendly experience for taxpayers. The revamped system officially went live on July 1, 2026. According to an official announcement by Vipul Bansal, the Commissioner of Commercial Taxes for Karnataka, the primary objective of this upgrade is to completely digitize and accelerate communication between the department and enrolled professional tax payers.
A major feature of the upgraded portal is the transition to digital issuance for all official communications. In accordance with Rule 27 of the Karnataka Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Rules 1976, all future notices, decisions, summons, and orders will now be dispatched electronically directly through the portal.
Alongside receiving digital notices, enrolled taxpayers can now submit their replies online. The new interface allows users to upload their explanations, responses, and objections directly through the website, entirely eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices.
The Commercial Taxes Department has urged all enrolled professional tax payers to log into the portal regularly to check for new updates or notifications, emphasizing that utilizing these online tools will ensure prompt and convenient compliance with the law. Taxpayers who require further clarification or assistance with the updated system can reach out to their respective jurisdictional Professional Tax Office, or contact the department’s official toll-free help desk at 1800-425-6300.
