Train services along the vital Mangaluru-Bengaluru route remain severely affected following a fresh landslide near the Yedakumeri-Shiribagilu section in Karnataka's Sakleshpur taluk. Continuous heavy downpours in the Western Ghats region have hampered ongoing clearance operations, causing fresh mud and debris to slide onto the tracks and filling the railway line with thick slush while water gushes down from the steep slopes alongside.
To prevent further structural damage and ensure safety, South Western Railway personnel have deployed sandbags along the vulnerable hillside to construct temporary retaining walls. However, the relentless rain continues to challenge cleanup efforts. Consequently, railway authorities have announced the complete cancellation of several major trains for the day, including the Yesvantpur-Karwar Express, the Mangaluru-Yesvantpur Gommateshwara Express, and the Karwar-KSR Bengaluru Panchaganga Express.
In addition to cancellations, several other key services have been diverted through alternative routes to bypass the blocked ghat section. These changes impact the Bengaluru-Murdeshwar Express, as well as the Vijayapura-Mangaluru Central Express (Train No. 17377) and its return service, the Mangaluru Central-Vijayapura Express (Train No. 17378). Passengers planning to travel between the coastal region and the state capital are strongly advised to check the live status of their trains and confirm schedules with railway authorities before heading to the station.
