In a major move to curb public nuisance and maintain cleanliness, the Karnataka state government has decided to take stringent action against individuals consuming and spitting gutkha and tobacco in public places and vehicles. Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh has officially issued an order directing authorities to crack down on violators and impose strict penalties.
The menace of people consuming gutkha and tobacco products and spitting indiscriminately has been rapidly staining and polluting public environments. From bus windows and doors to entire bus stations and public walkways, ugly tobacco stains have become a common sight. To put an absolute brake on this unhygienic practice, the Transport Minister has stepped in with this crucial directive.
Initially, Minister Byrathi Suresh issued the order targeting the state's four major transport corporations. This decision follows a formal request submitted by the State Police Complaints Authority, with authority member Mohan Kumar Danappa aggressively pushing for immediate intervention.
Emphasizing that this measure is being implemented to achieve a cleaner, more disciplined public environment, Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh has instructed the respective departments to ensure that the rules are strictly enforced in accordance with the law.
