Six Bangladeshi Nationals Apprehended in Mangaluru for Illegal Stay

The Mangaluru city police have detected six Bangladeshi nationals who were working as construction laborers at an under-construction building within the Surathkal police station limits.

Providing details on the operation, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy stated that authorities identified the six Bangladeshi nationals working at the construction site. A formal report regarding the matter is being dispatched to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The Commissioner added that the FRRO will soon issue necessary orders to take the foreign nationals into custody and initiate subsequent legal procedures for their deportation.

Law enforcement agencies have intensified security checks across the coastal region to crack down on illegal immigrants. Through this specific operation, officials successfully uncovered a network of foreign nationals residing illegally without valid documents in Surathkal. The apprehended individuals are currently undergoing interrogation, and the formal deportation process will commence immediately upon receiving orders from the FRRO.

This action follows a similar crackdown in Bengaluru, where police recently accelerated the process of identifying and deporting illegal Bangladeshi immigrants over the past few months. In that operation, a total of 272 illegal immigrants, including 178 men and 94 women, were identified and deported by April. Police had previously shared that the tracked illegal immigrants were escorted under tight security to the Tripura border, where they were deported with the assistance of border security forces.

Data reveals that a total of 432 illegal immigrants from various countries, including Bangladesh and Pakistan, had been detected across the state over the last three years. Out of these, the police department deported 255 individuals. Additionally, 53 Bangladeshi nationals living illegally on the outskirts of the city were tracked down by the police a few months ago. Out of the 432 illegal immigrants identified over the three-year period, 370 were from Bangladesh, 16 from Pakistan, and 42 from Sri Lanka.
