Amid escalating nationwide controversies surrounding the NEET exam, paper leaks, and student protests, actor-politician Vijay's Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has strongly demanded the complete scrapping of the medical entrance test. In an official statement released on Tuesday, the party asserted that the authority over medical education must be handed back to state governments and called for education to be shifted from the Concurrent List to the State List in the Constitution. TVK further suggested that if a complete constitutional shift is not immediately possible, an interim special arrangement should be made to grant states greater power in the educational sector. Without directly naming the ruling DMK, the party also criticized political entities for allegedly exploiting the NEET abolition promise merely as a tool to garner votes during elections.
