ANKOLA: Prithvi Devanand Gavankar of Bhasgoda village in Ankola taluk has been selected for the prestigious position of an Indian Army Officer, bringing pride to her family, village and the entire taluk.
Bhasgoda, a prominent place in the Chowk village region of Ankola, has a significant historical association with the freedom movement and is known for its contribution to the struggle for independence. Prithvi’s achievement has added another distinction to the region.
Prithvi is the granddaughter of freedom fighter Bommayya Raku Gavankar and Parvati Bommayya Gavankar. She is the daughter of Lion Devanand Bommayya Gavankar and Vanitha, who are known for their involvement in social service.
She completed her primary and high school education at Nirmala Hrudaya English Medium School in Ankola and pursued her pre-university education at Himalaya College. She later completed her engineering degree at New Horizon College in Bengaluru.
During her engineering studies, Prithvi underwent training under the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Throughout her student life, she actively participated in academics, cultural activities, sports and various other fields, earning several awards and recognitions.
Coming from a family with a strong cultural background, Prithvi also developed proficiency in Yakshagana, the traditional theatre art of coastal Karnataka. Her achievements reflect her versatility, discipline, hard work and determination.
Her selection as an Indian Army Officer is being seen as a recognition of her self-confidence, discipline and leadership qualities. Family members, villagers, friends, well-wishers and prominent personalities have congratulated Prithvi on her achievement and expressed their wishes for greater success as she embarks on a new journey of service to the nation.
