Karwar, Uttara Kannada: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday conducted a search operation at the residence of Sulaiman Khan Siddiq in Kodibagh, Karwar, in connection with an alleged multi-crore land-grabbing and money laundering case in Goa.
ED officials searched Siddiq’s residence at the Midmac Orchid apartment in Kodibagh as part of the investigation into alleged illegal land transactions in Panaji. Siddiq has been accused of allegedly creating forged documents in the names of deceased persons and using them to facilitate illegal land deals involving properties worth several crores.
A case has been registered against Siddiq in Goa under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED arrested him on July 16 in connection with the case.
According to the investigation, around 62.5 acres of land valued at approximately ₹300 crore has reportedly been seized in connection with Siddiq. The latest search operation in Karwar was conducted to collect additional documents and evidence relevant to the alleged land scam.
Siddiq was earlier arrested by the Goa Special Investigation Team (SIT) in 2024. He reportedly escaped from custody at that time and was later arrested again in Kerala.
The ED’s search at his Karwar residence is part of the ongoing investigation into the alleged Goa land-grabbing racket. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
