KUMTA: An 18-year-old student reportedly drowned while swimming with his friends at Jaddikere in Valagalli village of Kumta taluk in Uttara Kannada district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Prashanth Keshav Mukri (18). According to preliminary information, three students from Hegde had gone to Valagalli to swim when Prashanth reportedly drowned in the lake.
Following the incident, Fire and Rescue Services personnel reached the spot and launched a search operation to trace the student. Police personnel also visited the location and initiated an inquiry into the incident.
