Joida: A KPC employee died after the car he was driving reportedly lost control and plunged into a gorge near Usoda in Joida taluk on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Mallikarjun Rao, around 40 years old, an employee of the KPC unit at Ganeshgudi. He was reportedly travelling from Ganeshgudi to Dandeli to pick up his wife, who is an advocate, when the accident occurred.
Following the incident, KPC employees rushed to the spot and shifted Mallikarjun Rao to the Government Hospital in Dandeli. However, doctors examined him and confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries. His body has been kept at the hospital mortuary.
KPC officials and staff, advocates, former Aveda Gram Panchayat president Arun Bhagwatiraj, former Gram Panchayat members, and several residents from Ganeshgudi and Dandeli gathered at the hospital after learning about the tragic incident.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. Further details are awaited.
