Karwar: World Photography Day was celebrated in a grand manner by the Photographer Association at Ajwi Hotel in Karwar.
The programme was inaugurated by BJP State Vice President and former MLA Roopali Naik. Speaking on the occasion, she highlighted the importance of photography and said that old photographs help people revisit and cherish precious memories from their lives. However, she expressed concern that photographers are not receiving the same level of encouragement and recognition in the modern era as they did in the past.
As part of the celebrations, senior photographers Pramod Naik and Kishan Kamble, along with journalist Saikiran Nagesh Babrekar, were felicitated in recognition of their contributions.
Students from the families of association members who excelled academically were also honoured. Saai Ganesh Ratnakar Madiwal and Swati Pramod Naik were felicitated for their outstanding academic performance.
District Association Vice President Anant Pai, Honorary President Suraj Jogalekar, Association President Remy Fernandes, Vice President Ravikant Naik, Treasurer Sainath Naik and Secretary Jayaprakash Gosavi were among those present. Several office-bearers, members of the Photographer Association and members of the community also attended the programme.
