Dandeli: In a serious road accident reported on the Dandeli–Haliyal route, two personnel of the Fire and Emergency Services sustained grievous injuries after their motorcycle collided with a tractor. The incident occurred near Ajgaon village, close to the Haliyal taluk border, on Friday.
According to police sources, the injured have been identified as Sudhakar Gowda and Madhusudan Shetty, both serving with the Fire Department. The duo were travelling on a motorcycle from Dandeli towards Haliyal when the collision took place. The impact of the accident was severe, resulting in serious injuries to their legs.
Following the incident, local residents and passersby rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured personnel to the Haliyal Taluk Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be serious but stable.
Officials from the Haliyal Police Station visited the accident site, conducted an inspection, and registered a case in connection with the incident. Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the collision and are examining all possible factors, including road conditions and vehicle movement at the time of the accident.
