Karwar (Karnataka): Even after leaving their hometown for employment, they haven't abandoned their traditions—that's the real picture of life for Bihari families settled in Karwar! In the land of interfaith harmony, Karwar in Uttara Kannada district, more than a hundred laborers and businessmen from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh devoutly celebrated the significant festival of Chhath Puja, dedicated to the worship of Lord Surya.
Typically observed grandly in Bihar, this festival was celebrated with the same reverence and tradition at Karwar's Rabindranath Tagore Beach. Women, after observing a two-day fasting vow, sat in rows on the seashore during sunset and sunrise, paying obeisance to Lord Surya. They offered sugarcane, fruits, vegetables, and various homemade snacks as naivedya, lit lamps, and performed the puja rituals.

The sight of Bihari women standing in seawater and offering prayers to Lord Surya attracted the attention of local residents. Those employed at the naval base, businessmen, and family members joined together in traditional attire, sharing the joy of the festival.
Even after leaving their native places for livelihood, the Bihari families have preserved their original culture, religious beliefs, and traditions, setting an example in the harmonious land of Karwar.
Overall, the Bihari Chhath Puja festival, dedicated to the worship of Lord Surya, presented a vista of tradition, devotion, and harmony on Karwar's beach.
