Ankola, Karnataka: A tragic accident occurred on National Highway 66 near Aversa in Ankola taluk this morning, leaving an elderly woman seriously injured after being struck by a speeding lorry.
The victim, locally known as Prema, or "Aversa Premakka," was crossing the highway when the lorry collided with her, causing severe injuries to both her legs. Local residents promptly rushed Premakka to a nearby hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment. Ankola police arrived at the scene, conducted an inspection, and took the lorry driver into custody for further investigation.
The incident has sparked grief and outrage among the local community, with residents demanding stricter speed control measures on the highway to prevent such tragedies in the future.
