Bhatkal, July 29: A fisherman died after a country fishing boat capsized while fishing in the Arabian Sea near Jalikodi in Bhatkal taluk of Uttara Kannada district.
The deceased has been identified as Manjunath Betya Moger (56). The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the boat overturned due to strong waves, throwing him into the sea.
Following the accident, local fishermen launched a search operation for the missing fisherman. His body was recovered on Wednesday morning from the shoreline near Mundalli.
Police shifted the body for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
