Tadadi: A fishing boat named Sridevi, owned by Mohan Kimani, sank at Tadadi Harbour in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district.
Four fishermen were on board the boat when it sank. Other fishermen at the harbour immediately came to their rescue and safely brought all four fishermen ashore.
Fishermen have raised concerns over the recurring boat-sinking incidents at Tadadi Harbour, alleging that heavy silt accumulation in the harbour is affecting the safe movement and berthing of fishing boats. They have urged the authorities to take immediate steps to remove the accumulated silt and improve safety conditions at the harbour.
The boat owner is estimated to have suffered a financial loss of around ₹15 lakh due to the incident.
