Karwar: A multi-wheeler trolley transporting equipment for the upcoming Units 5 and 6 of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited at the Kaiga Generating Station overturned near Hartuga village on Thursday evening, about 10 km from Kaiga.

According to preliminary information, the driver lost control while negotiating a curve, despite the vehicle reportedly moving at a slow speed of under 10 kmph. Eyewitnesses said the heavily loaded trolley toppled with a loud crash, causing alarm in the area.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, the overturned vehicle and its cargo have blocked the road, posing a significant challenge for officials tasked with clearing the route and recovering the equipment.
The machinery, intended for nuclear reactor construction, was being transported from North India under tight security arrangements. Notably, the consignment had passed through Karwar town about two weeks ago, drawing public concern. Residents had objected to the movement of such heavy equipment through city roads and along the Kaiga–Karwar route, citing fears of potential road damage.
Senior police officials have since visited the site to assess the situation and oversee further action. Efforts are underway to remove the vehicle and restore normal traffic flow. More details are expected as the situation develops.
