Honnavar: A 50-year-old man from Haldipur lost his life following a tragic road accident that occurred on Sunday morning in Honnavar taluk of Uttara Kannada district.
The deceased has been identified as Vinayak Raghuveer Shanbhag (50), a resident of Haldipur. According to sources, the accident took place when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Haldipur village.
Vinayak sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Honnavar, where he received primary treatment. Considering the severity of his condition, doctors advised that he be shifted to a higher medical centre. He was later admitted to a hospital in Manipal for advanced care. However, despite efforts by medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Vinayak Shanbhag was a well-known areca nut trader in the region. He is survived by his wife, son, and other family members. News of his untimely death has cast a pall of gloom over Haldipur, with local residents expressing deep sorrow over the loss.
