Bhatkal: In connection with the recent stone-pelting incident involving minor boys in Bailuru village of Bhatkal taluk, the Murdeshwar Police have arrested a man for allegedly supplying intoxicating substances to minors.
The arrested accused has been identified as Siddiq Abdul Rehman (62), a resident of Karagadde 2nd Cross, Bhatkal. Police action follows investigations into the incident that occurred a few days ago in Bailuru, where stones were allegedly pelted at Hindu houses by a group of minor boys.
According to police sources, the accused is alleged to have provided intoxicating substances to the minors, which is believed to have influenced their involvement in the incident. Based on credible evidence, officials of the Murdeshwar Police Station registered a case and took the accused into custody.
The arrest was carried out under Section 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985 and Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. During the operation, police seized one e-cigarette packet and nine refill cartridges from the possession of the accused.
The arrest was led by Jagadish Hanchinal, Circle Police Inspector, Murdeshwar. The accused was produced before the competent court, which has remanded him to judicial custody till March 13, 2026.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
