Ankola, October 21, 2025: A tragic incident occurred at Belekere beach in Ankola taluk, Uttara Kannada district, where a man lost his life after being swept away by powerful waves while collecting shellfish.
The deceased has been identified as Anandu Naik (52), a resident of Bhavikeri village. He had gone to the shore to gather shellfish, a traditional seafood of the coastal region. Reports suggest that he was pulled into the sea by strong waves, leading to his untimely death.
A case has been registered at the Ankola police station, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
