Dandeli: Two unidentified miscreants snatched gold bangles from an elderly woman by distracting her in a busy area near the Central Post Office on Barchi Road, Dandeli, Uttara Kannada district.
The victim, 85-year-old Shanta Yallappa Pawar, a resident of Old DRT Colony in Bangurnagar, was out for personal errands when the incident occurred. The thieves, who arrived on a motorcycle, diverted her attention and fled with two gold bangles weighing approximately 40 grams, valued at around ₹2 lakh.
The entire incident was captured on local CCTV cameras. A case has been registered at the Dandeli Town Police Station, and authorities are actively investigating to apprehend the culprits.

In light of rising incidents of this nature, the police have urged senior citizens and women to exercise caution when wearing valuable jewelry while moving alone in public.
