Karwar: The Indian Navy clarified the reported ‘explosion’ and the ‘deafening sound’ from the INS Vajrakosh armament on Thursday.
In a press release by the PRO INS Kadamba Naval Base, it is stated that in response to the media reports regarding an explosion near Karwar Naval Base, the Indian Navy clarifies that the sound of the explosion and vibrations reported in the area were due to routine demolition activity of armament conducted at the Naval Armament Depot (NAD).
These activities are carried out in a perfectly controlled environment, in the presence of specialists, and strictly in accordance with laid-down safety protocols. The Indian Navy, however, takes note of the concerns raised by local residents. Naval authorities are working in close coordination with the civil administration towards addressing their concerns. The Indian Navy remains committed at all times to the safety and well-being of the local community, the press release said.
