Karwar, July 24: Traffic on the Dandeli–Haliyal State Highway in Uttara Kannada district came to a complete standstill for nearly three hours on Friday after a timber-laden truck got stuck in the mud, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded.
The truck, carrying timber from Mangaluru to the Dandeli Paper Mill, became trapped in the muddy roadside while attempting to give way to an oncoming vehicle. The incident blocked traffic in both directions, resulting in a traffic jam stretching nearly three kilometres from Ajgaon village.
On receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Dandeli Rural Police Station rushed to the spot and worked to regulate traffic and clear the congestion. A crane was later brought in to lift the stranded truck from the muddy stretch and restore the movement of vehicles.
