Karwar/Sirsi: A frightening head-on collision between two buses on the Sirsi–Kumta road near Kolagibees has left more than 40 passengers injured.
The accident occurred when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus, travelling from Bhatkal to Hubballi via Muddebihal, slammed into an oncoming private bus. The impact was so severe that the front portions of both buses were badly mangled, clearly showing the force of the crash.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with passengers screaming and debris scattered across the road. Rescue teams and locals quickly rushed to the spot and helped pull the injured out of the twisted wreckage.
All the injured passengers were immediately shifted to the nearby government hospital, where doctors are treating them. As of now, none of the injuries have been described as life-threatening, though several people are said to be in serious condition.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. Police have reached the spot and are examining the vehicles and the road conditions. They are also recording statements from witnesses to figure out what led to the collision.
Traffic on the busy Sirsi–Kumta stretch was badly affected for several hours following the crash, before being diverted.
