Karwar: A tragic road accident near Dandeli in Uttara Kannada district claimed two lives on the spot after a car lost control and crashed into a tree.
The incident occurred near Karka Cross–Ajgaon, where the speeding vehicle reportedly veered off the road before slamming into a tree with such force that it became wedged between two trunks. The impact left the car completely mangled, indicating the severity of the collision.

Three people were travelling in the car at the time of the accident. Two of them died instantly, while the driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be critical.
The deceased have been identified as Farooq Saab, a native of Dharwad, and Mudassir Ismail Mulla from Haliyal.
Police personnel visited the spot soon after the incident, carried out an inspection, and registered a case at the Dandeli Police Station. The bodies of the victims were shifted to the Haliyal Taluk Hospital for further procedures.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and investigations are currently underway.
