Ankola, July 16: A massive 10-foot-long python sparked brief panic in Hattikeri village when it suddenly appeared near a resident’s house, but quick action by a local snake rescuer helped resolve the situation safely.
The incident unfolded when villagers spotted the large python close to the home of Damodar S. Naik. Concerned residents immediately contacted Mahesh Naik, a local snake rescuer, who rushed to the spot.
With great care, Mahesh carried out the rescue operation and safely captured the snake without causing it any harm or putting anyone at risk. Following standard Forest Department protocol, the python was later transported to a secure forest area and released back into the wild.
The timely intervention brought huge relief to the villagers, who were understandably anxious during the encounter.
Speaking after the rescue, Mahesh Naik explained that the python is a non-venomous species that plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance. He appealed to the public not to panic or try to harm snakes when they are sighted.
“If you see a snake, please don’t kill it or try to hurt it out of fear,” he said. “Just contact the Forest Department or a snake rescuer immediately.”
