Sirsi, July 24: A giant python that was swept away by floodwaters in the Aghanashini River at Hosagadde village in Sirsi taluk was safely rescued by local residents, who promptly informed the Forest Department.
The villagers noticed the large python being carried downstream by the strong river current and immediately rushed to the spot. They carefully rescued the reptile before alerting forest officials.
Forest Department personnel arrived at the location, took custody of the python, and conducted a health check. According to officials, continuous heavy rainfall has caused the water level in the Aghanashini River to rise significantly, increasing the likelihood of snakes and other wild animals being washed out from nearby forest areas.
The Forest Department has appealed to the public not to panic if they encounter displaced wildlife during the monsoon. Instead, people are advised to immediately inform the department and avoid attempting to handle or rescue wild animals on their own.
The rescued python was later released into a safe forest habitat. Local residents were appreciated for their timely action, which
ensured the reptile was rescued safely without harm to either the animal or the public.
