Karwar: A special court for elected representatives in Bengaluru on Friday revoked the interim bail granted to Congress MLA Satish Krishna Sail in a money laundering case, raising the possibility of his re-arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat dismissed Sail’s bail petition, which had been filed on medical grounds, according to initial reports.
The ED’s Bengaluru unit had arrested Sail, the sitting MLA from Karwar, on September 9, 2025, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, for his alleged involvement in laundering proceeds from illegal iron ore smuggling to foreign destinations, including Hong Kong.
A day after his arrest from his Karwar residence, Sail was remanded to two-day ED custody. He was subsequently granted seven-day interim bail on health grounds.
“We have received the bail cancellation order from the special court. Accordingly, the accused will remain in custody,” ED sources confirmed on Friday. The agency had earlier indicated it would seek further custody of Sail before the interim bail period ended.
