Karwar: In what might be the most unexpected VIP visit of the season, a leopard casually strolled into the farmhouse of Sirsi-Siddapur MLA Bhimaṇṇa T. Naik at Malalagoano late last night—apparently without an appointment, security clearance, or even a polite phone call.
Around 1:00 AM, when most humans were asleep and only owls were on shift, the leopard walked in like it owned the place. According to CCTV footage, the big cat inspected the premises, looked around with the confidence of a real estate buyer, and then decided to take home two puppies who were sleeping peacefully outside. The puppies, unfortunately, became unwilling “takeaway meals.”

Sources say the leopard did not cause any other disturbance, did not break flowerpots, and did not scratch vehicles—displaying a level of gentleness rarely seen in visiting relatives.
The household staff, meanwhile, only learned about the night guest the next morning while reviewing CCTV videos. The footage reportedly shows the leopard walking in with the slow swagger of a movie villain entering a scene—tail high, head calm, no rush at all.
Forest officials have been informed. They are currently inspecting the area and advising residents to keep pets inside, gates locked, and to avoid challenging leopards to late-night staring contests. It is not known if the leopard had visited the MLA’s house with any demand.
