Joida (Uttara Kannada) : A leopard was sighted on the Potoli-Gund-Ulavi road within the Kali Tiger Reserve and Social Forestry area, captured on camera by a journalist late at night.
While driving home through a cloudy, dark night, journalist Tilakaraj spotted the leopard crossing the road. He slowed his vehicle, scanned for other leopards, but found none. Estimating the solitary animal to be 3 to 5 years old, he quickly recorded the sighting with his mobile phone camera.
This rare encounter underscores the rich biodiversity of the Kali Tiger Reserve, a key conservation area in Karnataka’s Western Ghats, home to tigers, leopards, and diverse wildlife. It also highlights the need for caution when traveling through such regions at night, as human-wildlife interactions remain common.
