Karwar: Residents of Halavalli village in Ankola taluk, Uttara Kannada district, got the scare of their lives when a massive 16-foot king cobra was discovered hiding inside a house.
The snake had apparently slipped into the home and was tucked away out of sight, triggering immediate worry among the family and neighbours. As soon as word spread, locals quickly alerted a team of snake enthusiasts known for their expertise in handling such situations.

Within no time, Suraj Shetty Arabail and Harish Madival from the rescue team rushed to the spot. With support from the Forest Department, they launched a careful operation to capture the giant reptile.
Working with great caution, the duo managed to safely secure the king cobra without any harm to the snake or the people around. Once it was safely bagged, the team released it back into a suitable forest area, far from human habitation.
For a while, the incident created a tense atmosphere in the village, but the quick response by the snake experts prevented what could have been a much bigger mishap. Locals have since praised the rescue team for their professionalism and timely help, breathing a collective sigh of relief.
Incidents like this are a reminder of how close humans and wildlife often live in these parts of coastal Karnataka, and how important it is to have trained rescuers who can step in and ensure everyone—people and snakes—stays safe.
