Karwar, Karnataka: Fishermen engaged in traditional Yendi net fishing off the Karwar coast in Uttara Kannada district landed an impressive haul of fish on Wednesday, marking one of the season's most successful catches.
The fishermen set out before sunrise and cast their traditional Yendi net into the Arabian Sea. When the net was hauled back, it was packed with a large quantity of fish, requiring the combined effort of several fishermen to pull it safely onto the shore.
The remarkable catch quickly attracted the attention of local residents and visitors, who gathered along the beach to witness the huge pile of freshly caught fish. The sight created a festive atmosphere among the fishing community.
Fishermen said that catches had been inconsistent over the past few weeks, making this abundant haul a welcome relief. They expressed confidence that the catch would provide better returns and support the livelihoods of many fishing families. The fish were later sorted and transported to local markets and nearby districts.
The fishermen credited the bumper catch to favorable sea conditions and weather, expressing hope that the traditional Yendi net fishing season would continue to deliver encouraging results in the days ahead.
